What Participants Say:

“My daughter has had the immense fortune of studying under ballet teacher April — the impact has been truly phenomenal. She brings an extraordinary ability to teach ballet at all levels and thoughtfully tailors instruction to support growth, technique, and artistry.

What makes her stand out even more is her attentiveness to neurodivergent learners — my daughter is neurodivergent, and April seamlessly integrates life skills into every lesson, fostering confidence, resilience, and a positive self-image.

She is patient, compassionate, and highly adaptable, capable of connecting with advanced learners as well as students with special needs. She truly goes above and beyond, and her influence has been instrumental in my daughter’s progress and well-being.”

FAQ

How is it different than a normal dance class?

Unlike a typical dance class, this program intentionally teaches life skills first—skills like confidence, creativity, emotional intelligence, memory, and resilience—and then uses dance to practice them. Many activities naturally help kids grow these skills, but here, that growth is purposeful and guided. Each class includes dedicated time for reflections, discussions, and creative “brain games”, helping students connect what they learn in dance to real-life situations.

It’s not about performance; it’s about learning through movement, having fun, and strengthening both mind and body—while still learning to dance! No dance experience is required—just a willingness to move and try new things.

The activities and discussions are inspired by current research making life skills practice more effective while providing a safe, supportive space for students to explore and grow.

FAQ

How is this different from other extracurricular activities that naturally build these skills?

While many activities help kids develop confidence, focus, and teamwork naturally, this class makes that growth purposeful and guided. Each session includes reflections, discussions, and creative “brain games” designed to help children connect what they learn in dance to real-life situations. While most extracurricular classes focus solely on mastering the skill, this class prioritizes life skills as well.

This intentional approach creates a safe and supportive space, making skill development more effective and lasting. Kids don’t just master moves—they build confidence, focus, creativity, resilience, and emotional intelligence in ways that transfer beyond the studio, preparing them for school, home, and future challenges.

Why is it the Secret Dance Technique?

The “secret” lies in what makes this program truly unique. It’s not about performing or preparing for a show—every class is designed to devote time to intentionally teach life skills, including confidence, creativity, emotional intelligence, resilience, memory, and growth mindset, and then put them into practice through fun, interactive dance activities.
